Week 4 roundup: Dragons, Chargers roll to 4-0 starts

Here’s a roundup of Week 4 Memphis-area high school football games, based on informatio­n and statistics submitted to The Commercial Appeal:

Colliervil­le 47, Center Hill 6: The Dragons (4-0) keep playing at a high level. Houston Wilhelm threw for 158 yards and four touchdowns, while Troy Martin ran for 194 yards and added a score. Wilhelm tossed TD passes to John Hampton, Donovan Mathena, Eli Sisson and Tyler Collier, who led Colliervil­le with 117 receiving yards. Amari Dawkins scored the lone touchdown for the visiting Mustangs (1-2).

Covington 58, Brighton 22: The Chargers still haven’t put a wide receiver on the field, and it’s hard to blame them when a team can run for over 400 yards. Covington (4-0) had 44 carries for 415 yards and seven touchdowns. Jamarion Dowell led the way with 202 yards and TD runs of 10, 9 and 80 yards. Jalen Fayne had 101 yards with touchdowns of 25 and 70 yards. Skylan Smith accounted for two touchdowns. The Cardinals got 101 rushing yards from Ty Stark.

MUS 46, Raleigh-egypt 0: The host Owls (3-1) had two rushing TDS from Hunter Barnes, who scored on runs of 21 and 4 yards. Hayes Wilkinson and Grayson Pollan returned fumbles for touchdowns against the Pharaohs (0-4). Mac Owen and Morgan Temme had receiving touchdowns, while MUS closed out the scoring with a safety and a 32-yard field goal by Andrew Tancredi. The

ECS 21, Jackson Christian 0: Bennett Brady had 100 yards passing and two touchdowns for the host Eagles (3-1). Caiden Hill and Zach Baker were on the receiving end of Brady’s scoring strikes. Tucker White had the first touchdown – a 1-yard plunge – in the second quarter. White finished with 145 yards rushing.

Kosciusko 40, Lewisburg 12: The Patriots were unable to bounce back from a 33-point deficit. Visiting Lewisburg scored right before halftime when Gunner Gilmore hooked up with Cole Mckinney from 3 yards out. Gilmore, who finished with 261 yards passing, threw a 60-yard touchdown to Graycen Crumbley midway through the third quarter.

St. George’s 27, St. Benedict 16: A pair of solid rushing performanc­es were on display. Jaydon Smith of the visiting Gryphons had 143 yards and one touchdown – outdueling the Eagles’ Antonio Adams, who ran for 149 yards and a score. Jake Seward had a 36-yard intercepti­on return for a fourth-quarter touchdown for St. George’s.

CBHS 42, White Station 6: Dallan Hayden had a productive first half, scoring four touchdowns in the convincing Purple Wave victory. Hayden ended his night with 153 yards on 14 carries. The other offense for CBHS came courtesy of Jaxon Hammond, who caught a pair of touchdowns from Jack Mclaughlin. White Station avoided the shutout with a 65-yard TD run in the second quarter.

FACS 40, Halls 0: The Crusaders found success scoring on both side of the ball, including quarterbac­k Josh Wright, who accounted for three touchdowns. Defensivel­y, Corey Savage and Tyler Kamler had a fumble return and an intercepti­on return, respective­ly. Connell Fitzgerald led FACS with 14 tackles, while Jake Pennington ran for 160 yards.
