On September 2, 2021 Mr. and Mrs. Bryan and Carol Cunningham celebrated 60 years of marital bliss with family in Germantown, Tennessee.

Bryan is the only son of the late George B. Cunningham of Arcadia, Florida and the late Tassie Thornburg Cunningham Pate of Ellendale, Tennessee. Carol is the daughter of the late Carroll Pinkney and Phoebe Lillie Mae Cates of Alton, Missouri.

Bryan is a graduate of Humes High School, holds a B.S. from the University of Memphis plus a Masters and 30 hours beyond. Upon graduation from College he entered the United States Air Force as an Aerial Delivery Officer in the Tactical Air Command. After service for his country, he was hired by the Allison Division of General Motors as a graduate trainee in Indianapol­is, Indiana. A year later, he was promoted to an aircraft engine parts representa­tive. He then trained six weeks at the Navy’s ASO in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia and then was stationed in the bay area of California. His specialty was carrier outfitting for deployment and the parts representa­tive on the T-56 turbo-prop engine found on the C-130

After three years, he was laid off from this position and returned to Memphis to obtain his Masters. At this time he also met his future wife, Carol. Bryan began teaching at Frayser High School where he taught engineerin­g graphics and architectu­re. He also coached football, swimming, and tennis while at Frayser High School. At this time he also became a part-time Instructor for the University of Memphis teaching Engineerin­g Graphics and Architectu­re. He also worked some summers at the Kingsbury Vo-tech as an instructor.

He left Frayser High School to take the Headmaster position at Eastdale Academy, Frayser Baptist Schools, Inc., and Glenmore Academy. He then became a technical instructor at Phillips County Community College in Helena, Arkansas, where he retired. He later taught and coached at Houston High School, and Germantown High School upon retirement.

Carol graduated from Alton High School in Alton, Missouri and later moved to Memphis, Tennessee. She had various jobs such as modeling, retail, and worked for Merrill Lynch in downtown Memphis. She later was employed by Sears as a Division Manager in the lingerie department, and later trained to become a Decorator, all from the Raleigh Springs Mall location. She worked for Sears for many years and upon moving to Helena, Arkansas became the Audio-visual Aids Manager for the Phillips County Arkansas Public School System. Upon returning to Memphis, Tennessee she worked in sales for The Cottage House Mall and later managed the Brookhaven Antiques until retiring earlier this year.

The couple have two daughters, six grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren, and one on the way. The eldest daughter, Melissa and Dr. Mark Campbell, live in Mountain Brook, Alabama. They have a son and two daughters, two grandchild­ren, and one grandchild expected later this month. The youngest daughter, Stephanie and Chuck Replogle live in Germantown, Tennessee and have a son and two daughters.
