Harold W. Krag Jr.
MEMPHIS - Harold W. Krag Jr, (Noonie) 73, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2022. He is now in his heavenly home. He was a loyal and loving man who will be greatly missed by those who loved him and by those whose lives he touched. His family are better people because of him.
Harold Krag was born January 27, 1949, to Josephine and Harold Krag Sr, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was proceeded in death by both of his parents. He leaves behind his loving family, his devoted wife, of 53 years, Patricia Abston Krag, two daughters and one son; Kristy Taylor (Tony), Hal Krag III (Katie), Jenny Romine (Chip) also four grandchildren who he loved dearly, Matt Taylor, Amanda Taylor, Luke Romine, and Josh Romine. Harold also leaves behind his sister Debby Krag Mosier (Gene) and their two daughters Tammy Henderson (Rodney) and Gena Doyle (Shane). He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Carolyn Abston Walters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold Krag graduated from Westwood High School in 1967.
At an early age, Harold was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration AMD. He never allowed this to interfere with his dreams.
As a young boy Noonie was trained in music and became an accomplished and talented Saxophone musician. He played professionally for several years then enjoyed years playing music with his Father and for family and friends.
Noonie grew up with horses, and with his family entered horse shows. In 1969, he and his horse “Sundowner” won the SASCA High Point Parade Class at the Cotton Carnival Horse Show. He was a Shriner.
Noonie worked at his Father’s company, ABC Plumbing and Heating Co., Inc., established in 1950. At the age of twenty-four Noonie became a
Master Plumber and went into the office of ABC Plumbing and Heating as management.
A few noted projects in Memphis that Harold Krag participated in were Libertyland, Mud Island, Regional One Medical Center, St. Jude Hospital, Methodist and Baptists Hospitals, Mid-america Mall, Memphis International Airport / Fedex facilities, and the Memphis City Zoo.
Later in life, Harold formed H&K Plumbing and Heating Incorporated and was instrumental in Trey Construction Incorporated owned by his son, Hal Krag III.
Harold worked hard his entire life and loved spending time with family and friends.
His favorite times were always with family. Friends were important to Noonie. He cared about them and looked forward to talking, laughing and retelling old stories, and there were many stories to tell. Noonie liked to travel, everything from the packing to riding in the car for 10 hours. He learned to cook and would tell anyone his Homemade Vegetable Soup, Chili, and Banana Nut Bread were hands down the best.
Noonie enjoyed the companionship of his many animals in his lifetime horses, Dogs, and a bird named Pete. Noonie developed a very special bond with a dog name “Bear” which was a mix of Chow and Shepard. Bear was a “Special” friend and companion. Sadly, Bear passed away in 2020. We know Bear was waiting for Noonie’s recent arrival to Heaven.
A memorial service will be held February 15, 2022, at Christ United Methodist Church at 12:00. Visitation will commence one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to either the William Bouknight Memorial Fund at Christ United Methodist Church,st. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and The American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
