Greys cheese shop to open Nashville store
Greys Fine Cheese and Entertaining is set to open a second cheese shop later this year in Nashville.
This Memphis-based cheese shop plans to open in the Sylvan Supply development, 4101 Charlotte Ave., in early fall.
“When we opened, we knew we wanted to expand eventually, but Nashville wasn’t even on our radar,” said Jackie Mau, who owns and operates Greys with cheese monger Kurt Mullican. “But we have had a lot of people who have visited us from Nashville ask us to please open a store like this there.”
Mau said the decision to expand was all about opportunity.
Commercial real estate broker Fletcher Elkington, who helped Greys find its initial location at 709 S. Mendenhall Road in East Memphis, brought the Sylvan Park space to their attention.
“It is the perfect opportunity next door to a wine shop (Woodland Wine Merchant),” said Mau, adding she hopes the new shop will cater to not only Sylvan Park but also the neighboring Belle Meade and Green Hills neighborhoods.
Greys Fine Cheese and Entertaining opened its original cut-to-order cheese shop and wine bar in May 2021.
The cheese shop focuses not only on cheeses from around the world, but artisan cheeses made in America as well. Mau and Mullican have traveled to creameries across the country developing relationships with the craftsmen who create these unique specialty cheeses.
The two say education is an important part of enjoying cheese. Throughout the year, Greys hosts cheese workshops and tasting events ranging from Cheese and Bourbon Pairings to Fondue Nights.
The retail side of the shop also includes everything you might need to accompany your cheese. Artisan crackers, honeys, mustards, olive oils and jams are just a few of the offerings.
