Corey Phillips has joined Memphis University School as instructional technology teacher. He has a 10-year background in higher education, most recently as an instructional technologist since 2018 at Rhodes College. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary in 2017. The Better Business Bureau of the Mid-south re-elected officers to lead its board of directors for 2022. Glankler Brown announced Jake A. Kasser has been promoted to Member of the firm. His experience includes advising clients on the creation, development and implementation of comprehensive estate plans, including wealth transfer techniques and sophisticated tax planning and drafting complex wills and trusts. Kasser has a juris doctor and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Memphis.
The Memphis Sports & Events Center,
a 227,000-square-foot competitive youth sports facility currently under construction in Liberty Park, named Antonio Perez as its general manager. Perez, formerly the director of Youth Basketball Programming for the Memphis Grizzlies, will lead the Memphis Sports & Events Center on behalf of Virginia-based facility operator Eastern Sports Management. His direction of tournaments, leagues and programs successfully grew the Memphis Grizzlies' fan engagement, revenue generation, regional awareness and community outreach.
Thomas Grant has joined IMC Companies, the nation's largest marine
drayage company, as vice president of Logistics Sales and Services. He will be responsible for generating business growth across all of IMC'S operating companies in addition to managing logistics of the organization to support its long-term growth. Grant previously was affiliated with Crowley, serving on the company's sales and logistics team for nearly 28 years, most recently as senior director of National Accounts. He resides in Jacksonville, Florida. Trustmark National Bank promoted Carla Tracy to assistant vice president in Memphis where she is a community lending specialist. She has been with Trustmark for two years and has 28 years of banking experience. Tracy is a member of the Women's Council of the National Association of Real Estate
Brokers, Inc. NOTEWORTHY
Codecrew, a nonprofit empowering children and adults in underserved communities to be tech innovators and leaders, was named a 2022 Black Community Commitment grantee in Memphis. The firm joins 43 local organizations nationwide and 10 national organizations to team up with NIKE Inc. to advance equality and deepen collective service to the Black community. NIKE Inc. announced its investment of $5 million to support national organizations and an additional $2.75 million to support local organizations in seven U.S. cities. This commitment is part of NIKE Inc.’s multi-year pledge to invest in and support national and neighborhood organizations focused on improving economic empowerment, education innovation and social justice for Black communities in the United States.
Along with Code Crew, the Black Community Commitment grantees in Memphis are Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope, Legacy of Legends CDC, Black Business Association of Memphis, Heal the
Hood Foundation, Vance Avenue Youth Development, Streets Ministries, The Consortium Memphis Music Town, 100 Black Men of Memphis and The Way Community Group.
Regional One Health announced its Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Program received accreditation with distinction from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). UHMS accreditation means the center has met or exceeded the highest standards of care and patient safety through rigorous evaluation of our operations, including equipment, staff and training to ensure that the utmost quality is maintained within the specialty of undersea and hyperbaric medicine. This is the first time the program has earned accreditation with distinction. The program has three board-certified physicians who treat patients. There are fewer than 500 board-certified wound care physicians across the country. Regional One Health’s Wound Care Center is the only facility in Tennessee where patients can receive treatment in a multi-place hyperbaric oxygen chamber. UHMS is an international nonprofit association serving approximately 2,000 physicians, scientists, associates and nurses from more than 30 countries in the fields of hyperbaric and dive medicine.
