16 Memphis-area players to watch in postseason
The Tennessee high school basketball postseason is finally here. Division I teams are playing for district, region and sectional titles over the next few weeks, while Division II teams play for a regional title and chance at the state tournament.
Here’s a look at some of the key players to watch during the playoffs.
Jordan Allen, Hillcrest, Jr.: Allen, a Mr. Basketball finalist, is averaging 23.5 points per game and 6.3 assists per game for the Vikings.
Xavier Alexander, Overton, Sr.: Alexander is the Wolverines’ second leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points per game.
Jordan Frison, Overton, Sr.: Frison, a Mr. Basketball finalist, is averaging 27.3 points per game for the Wolverines.
Jacob Gazzo, Briarcrest, Sr.: Gazzo, an Ole Miss signee, is averaging nearly 17 points with the Saints.
Christian Gilliland, Northpoint, Jr.: Gilliland is averaging more than 20
points per game this season with the Trojans.
Seth Grandberry, Lausanne, Sr.: Grandberry, a Mr. Basketball finalist, is
averaging 20.4 points per game for the Lynx.
MJ Hayes, FACS, Fr.: Hayes is averaging more than 18 points per game for the Crusaders.
Cooper Haynes, Briarcrest, Jr.: Haynes is averaging 17 points per game this season with the Saints.
Jaye Nash, Briarcrest, Jr.: Nash is averaging more than 10 points and more than six assists per game.
Anthony Medlock, Germantown, Sr.: Medlock is averaging about 20 points per game for the Red Devils.
Michael Pepper, Christian Brothers, Sr.: Pepper is averaging 16.5 points per game for the Purple Wave.
