Joe Harry Sides

BRIGHTON - Joe Harry Sides, 88, of Brighton, TN passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 5, 1934, in Cherry, TN to the late Marion Alex and Josie Bell Waits Sides.

He attended Ripley High School in Ripley, TN and then served in the United States Army from 1955-1957 in the 10th Infantry (Mountain) Division, 87th Infantry Regiment where he was placed on duty in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He married Carolyn Blanche Huffman Sides of Brighton, TN on August 30, 1953. He retired from International Harvester Company after 30 years and later worked at Brighton Lumber Company until the age of 80. He was a devoted member of Brighton Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a Freemason of Tipton County Lodge No, 226 for 63 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Alex and Josie Bell Waits Sides and one brother, Jack Sides. He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 70 years, Carolyn Sides; one son, Joe Harry Sides, Jr. of Brighton, TN; one daughter, Katie (Paul) Hensley of Brighton, TN; three loving grandchildren, Jack (Baylee) Ruffin of Marion, AR, Mccallie Ruffin of Nashville, TN and Alec-thomas Ruffin of Brighton, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Brighton Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Brighton, TN. Interment will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery in Brighton, TN.
