SPRING, TX - On the morning of February 8th, 2023, at the age of 73, James Frederick (Fred) Watkins II of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his children. Fred was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 29th, 1949, to Barney Cecil Watkins (Papaw) and Mary Elma Hubbard (Meemaw). Fred retired from Exxonmobil in 2012 after 33 years of loyal service, serving in numerous roles and gaining lifelong friendship­s strongly held to this day. Fred was married to his wife Joellen for 46 years, fathered his four biological children and two bonus sons Sean (Big Sean) Crews and Ricky (Little Rick) King). He was Boompa to his eight grandchild­ren and Pops to his Wrestling family. Fred was an actor / director / choreograp­her who helmed several theatrical production­s in Memphis and Spring. His years in theater strongly influenced his dramatic character and ability to win the room. Fred’s charisma surrounded him with humor and affection. Despite his health challenges and multiple adversitie­s over the last few years, he was able to live it up through his newfound friendship­s, attending profession­al wrestling matches, fine dining, travel, and seeing his cousins in Memphis.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Mary Joellen Cianciola Watkins and son Shawn Michael Watkins. Fred was survived by his son -- James Frederick (Ricky) Watkin III, two daughters -Ellen Meredith Budde and Melissa Anne Simmons. Fred will be interred at Calvary Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 25th.
