General Sessions Judge Tim Dwyer was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award during the Tennessee General Sessions Court Judges’ Conference 2022. The acknowledgment is in appreciation and recognition of his contributions and long-term commitment to the judiciary and the Tennessee General Sessions Court.
Terrence Reed, managing director of employment litigation at Federal Express, was honored at the Memphis Bar Association’s annual meeting with the prestigious Judge Jerome Turner Lawyer’s Lawyer Award. This honor is awarded annually to a member of the Memphis Bar Association who has practiced for more than 15 years and who exemplifies the qualities in the Guidelines for Professional Courtesy and Conduct. Currently, he is a member of the President’s Council and serves on the Memphis Bar Foundation Board of Directors.
PRIZM Ensemble recently hired Christina Lai as its director of Operations and Programming. She will coordinate the nonprofit’s educational outreach projects including PRIZM in the Schools, the annual International Chamber Music Festival and Summer Camp, and PRIZM Chamber Orchestra
concerts. Lai, a professional pianist from Plantation, Florida, received her Doctorate of Music in piano performance with a specialized study in piano pedagogy from Florida State University. She previously taught at Florida State University, Western Kentucky University, University of North Florida and Aspen Music Festival.
Addison Turner joined the team of plumbing and fire protection designers at Allen & Hoshall. He will assist Memphis-area clients with developing designs for fire sprinkler and plumbing systems for the firm’s range of building design projects. Turner previously worked as a project engineer for American Fire Protection Group. He graduated from Union University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
The Memphis Bar Association‘s outgoing president Tannera George
Gibson presented City of Memphis Chief HR Officer Alexandria Smith and Burch, Porter & Johnson attorney Andy Jones with the MBA President’s Award for their service to the bar in 2022. The honorees were presented with the award during the MBA annual meeting. Prior to her service for the City of Memphis, she served in HR management roles for industry leaders, including Brightstar Corp., Target Corp. and Microsoft Corp. Smith earned a master’s degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining Burch, Porter & Johnson in 2013, Jones was a shareholder with Rosen Harwood in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He maintains a broad practice that focuses on taxation of corporation, partnership, individuals, estates and trusts, mergers and acquisitions, business transactions and estate planning. Jones received his law degree from the University of Alabama.
Regional One Health promoted certified nurse midwife Breia Loft to lead the hospital’s Midwifery Services. Loft has worked as a certified nurse midwife at Regional One Health for seven years and has 25 years’ experience as a certified nurse midwife. She earned her master’s in nursing degree from Vanderbilt University. She is also an instructor in the Advanced Practice and Doctoral Study Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Loft also will be involved with recruiting, overseeing the midwives and community outreach.
Noteworthy
Remington College’s Memphis location is now offering a phlebotomy certification prep course. Phlebotomy is the procedure where a needle is used to take blood from a vein. This is usually done in preparation for lab testing. The course includes the cost of the first attempt at the National Healthcareer Association phlebotomy exam.
