Pepsi releases a Peeps-flavored drink
I, admittedly, have a sweet tooth. I also have something of a caffeine addiction.
So when I heard about the limitededition Peeps X Pepsi crossover, my interest was piqued.
I knew this would either be the best or worst thing I had ever tasted.
What does Peeps Pepsi taste like?
Before I took a sip of Peeps Pepsi, I could not fathom what it might taste like. How do you combine a thick, fluffy marshmallow with a carbonated soft drink?
Upon my first taste, I was stunned temporarily to silence.
Now, most people probably know what Pepsi tastes like. And Peeps, the Easter candy consisting of chick- and bunny-shaped marshmallows covered in an unforgiving amount of sugar and food coloring.
I can earnestly say that this soda tastes like neither Peeps nor Pepsi.
The can says “marshmallow flavored,” but I didn’t taste traditional marshmallow, but rather something more like the artificially flavored, dried-out marshmallows you find in some cereals.
After I got past the initial overwhelming fizziness, the first thing that came to mind was a blue raspberry Icee ... with a hint of something like Windex.
That said, the drink is not inherently bad — I know taste is subjective — but if you’re craving a traditional cola taste to pair with your hamburger lunch, go for a regular Pepsi or Coke, as this drink tastes like pure liquefied candy, with a seriously artificial aftertaste.
Where to get Peeps Pepsi?
Still intrigued after all that? Don’t take my word for it.
Peeps Pepsi really is something you
have to experience for yourself.
When the crossover soda made its debut in 2021, it was only available to winners of an online contest.
Now, the marshmallow candy-flavored soft drink is available on retail shelves nationwide.
Pepsi conveniently has a product locator on its website that allows you to narrow down your search to specific items, including the Peeps-flavored Pepsi.
I bought a 10-pack of the mini cans at my local Fry’s.
It also comes in 20-ounce bottles, though, if you can make it through a full 20 ounces, please send me a message and let me know that you’re OK.
