GERMANTOWN - Gordon Charles Hooten, 88, of Germantown, TN passed away on March 4, 2023. He was born in Memphis, TN where he lived his entire life. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Joy Bray, his wife, Peggy Hooten and his granddaugh­ter, Rachel Hooten. He is survived by his children Terri Bader and her husband Eric, Steven Hooten and his wife Hilda, Mark Hooten and his wife Lisa, Matthew Hooten and his wife, Tracy, three grandchild­ren, Emily Hooten, Samuel Hooten and Sarah Hooten and two brothers Lee Roy Bray and Gary Bray.

Gordon graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1953. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corp from 19531956 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After dischargin­g from the Marine Corp, he worked for the Kimberly Clark Corporatio­n until retirement. In 1958 Gordon married Peggy Louise Langston. They raised four children and were happily married for 63 years until her passing.

For over 40 years Gordon was a loyal parishione­r at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Memphis, TN and for the past 15 years has attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, TN.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, TN. A private graveside service will be held for family members at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
