Sufi’s Mediterranean Grill and Bar

-

Where: 7609 Poplar Pike, Germantown

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-sunday; closed Monday the “Red Carpet” cocktail made with Pearl Pomegranate Vodka and Stirrings Pomegranate Liqueur.

The Sufi-tini is a bourbon cocktail made with Bulleit Bourbon and the restaurant’s house-crafted iced tea made with ginger, sage, mint and honey.

The dining experience

While the focus is on the food (everything is made fresh from scratch), the partners also have put an emphasis on the dining experience. “When people go out, they want an experience,” said Kheraj. “The focus is on the food as well as what revolves around it — the service and the ambiance.”

Throughout the restaurant are nods to Persia — from light fixtures to artwork. In addition to new flooring and furniture, restaurant renovations included new bathrooms and the creation of two upstairs private dining rooms. Plans for an awning for the expansive 70-seat patio are in the works.

“We can now host events like rehearsal dinners and office parties,” said Rabiya Fahad Ali Khan, adding one private room seats 10 to 15 guests and the other can seat up to 35.

The name, Sufi’s, takes inspiration from the Sufi mystics. Kheraj said these mystics traveled and explored in search of wisdom and to help spread the message of faith, love and kindness.

“It’s about mind, soul and body,” Kheraj said. “That all comes together here.”
