Patricia J. Wainwright

BARTLETT - Patricia (Pat) J. Wainwright born February 25, 1932, in Indiana, PA, passed away peacefully March 6, 2023, at the age of 91 in Bartlett, TN. Pat was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Richard (Dick) Wainwright, brother George Hobaugh, sister Catherine Cline, and parents Dr. Russell and Clara Hobaugh. She is survived by daughter Sue Mcmanus (Steve), son Matt Wainwright (Marybeth), daughter Lisa Wainwright, grandchildren Casey Mcmanus, Lydia Wainwright and Russell Wainwright, twin brothers Don and Duane Hobaugh, cousin Dolly Nobs, and many nephews and nieces. In 1954, Pat received a BS degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught kindergarten/ elementary school in Greensburg, PA. Her most loved teaching position was at St. Paul’s Catholic School where she taught music and physical education including a yearly gymnastics program. During her life she was active in the community as a school board member, PTA, and was a Girl Scout and Brownie troop leader. She retired from the Jackson, TN General Sessions Court where she was employed as a court clerk. Pat and Dick were lifelong Presbyterians and served Christ in many capacities through the church. She was an elder, a member of the choir/bell choir, and worked in the church kitchen. Pat was a staunch conservative and a vigorous supporter of the Republican Party both in Jackson and Bartlett, TN. She always strived to stay current on Us/world events and was an avid reader particularly nonfiction. She was truly patriotic and loved this country, worrying that her grandchildren would not have the opportunity to live the wonderful life she had. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Visitation and service to be held on Saturday, March, 18, 2023, at the Cordova Presbyterian Church, 1071 North Sanga Rd. Cordova, TN. The visitation will begin at 1pm followed by a service at 2pm. Burial will follow at the Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN.
