HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL AREA RANKINGS

The girls basketball state tournament wrapped up last week, officially ending another high school basketball season. There were no state champion girls teams, but two teams reach the semifinals.

Here's where Memphis area teams finished in the final rankings.

1. Bartlett (34-8): Nevaeh Scott, Mallory Collier and Raven Sims helped the Panthers have one of their most historic seasons, finishing runner-up to Bradley Central.

2. Briarcrest (26-5): Kayli Clarkson helped lead the Saints back to the state tournament, but they lost in the quarterfin­als to eventual state champion Ensworth.

3. Fayette-ware (28-8): The Wildcats lost to Dyer County, 61-59, in the sectional round on March 4.

4. Whitehaven (24-4): Led by Jeurnei Wright, the Tigers reached the 4A girls sectional round but lost to

Clarksvill­e 56-32.

5. Arlington (20-8): Tierney Kelsey was one of the top players for the Tigers, who reached the Region 8-4A semifinals before losing to Whitehaven.

6. Colliervil­le (13-12): The Dragons reached the Region 8-4A semifinals, led by Hilary Shikuku, but lost to Bartlett, 81-68.

7. Middle College (20-4): The Bulldogs lost to Peabody in the Class A sectional round, 53-49, getting one win away from the state tournament. 8. Westwood (17-6): The Longhorns lost to Dresden in the sectional round, 69-46.

9. Hillcrest (18-7): The Vikings lost to Decatur County Riverside in the 2A sectional round. They had won the previous five games, including district and region championsh­ip.

10: Houston (19-10): Led by Teniya Morant and Anna Lee Avery, the Mustangs reached the Region 8-4A quarterfin­als before falling to Whitehaven. Reach Wynston Wilcox at wwilcox@ gannett.com.
