Here’s a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:
The Soulsville Foundation has hired longtime fundraiser John C. Thatcher as its new Chief Development Officer, elected Beverly Robertson as its new board chair, added two new board members: Liz Landrigan-keough and Andre Person, and hired four alumni students to work as instructors at its Stax Music Academy:
h In 2021, Thatcher formed his own fundraising firm, High View Philanthropy. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Christian Brothers University.
h Robertson, retired President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Memphis Chamber, was voted in as chair of the board of directors.
h The alumni who will serve as instructors are Tavonte’ Campbell,
Music Production Instructor, a senior at the University of Memphis, soon to graduate with a degree in recording technology; Morrell Pruitte, Piano and Jazz Instructor, a producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist with 20-plus years of experience playing keyboards and a graduate of Alabama State University with a Bachelor’s degree in communications; Christopher Clark, Programming Intern, a graduate of both The Soulsville Charter School and the Stax Music Academy; and Timothy Walker, Premier Percussion Instructor, a graduate of Jackson State University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. Walker is the Orff
Music/jazz Band Director at John P. Freeman Optional School.
Effective Nov. 1, Braylin Laster became the new Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Resource Development at Southwest Tennessee Community College. Since 2017, he has served as the Director of Alumni Affairs for Lane College, and in 2019, Laster was among 31 local business professionals to graduate from the Jackson (Tenn.) Chamber’s 41st Leadership Jackson class.
Campbell Clinic added five new physicians to its growing team of providers. The new physicians are Dr. Joshua
Brandon, primary care sports medicine physician; Dr. Christopher Holland, total joint replacement surgeon; Dr. Jimmie Mancell, internal medicine/ employee health; Dr. Omar Medina, orthopaedic spine surgeon; and Dr. Austin Murphy, hand and wrist surgeon.
h Brandon is serving patients via Campbell Clinic’s Germantown and Medical District locations. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician specializing in the evaluation and management of non-surgical musculoskeletal issues and sports medicine. Brandon earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota before completing his residency at the Halifax Health Family Medicine Program and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine from Wake Forest.
Holland is seeing patients in Campbell Clinic’s Germantown, Oxford and Southaven locations. He is a fellowship-trained total joint replacement surgeon. Holland earned his master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California (Riverside) before completing his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of California (Davis) Medical Center and the Shriners Hospital for Children. He completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery at Duke University.
h Mancell focuses his practice on employee health, providing support for Campbell Clinic’s 850-plus team members across the Mid-south. He earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed both his internship and residency at Methodist University Hospital of Memphis.
h Medina is seeing patients at the Wolf
River Parkway location. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon. Medina earned his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his internship and residency at the Harbor-ucla Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
h Murphy is treating patients at the Collierville and Germantown locations. He is a fellowship-trained hand and wrist surgeon, and earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Murphy completed his residency at Campbell Clinic – University of Tennessee’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and his orthopaedic hand fellowship at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center.
