-

Teresa Stewart Beaty (Terry) passed away at home January 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, after a battle with ALS. Terry was born March 23,1955 in Harriman, Tennessee with her twin sister Sherry. She and her family lived throughout the Southeast U.S. and Washington while her father was an engineer with Boeing and her mother was a schoolteacher. After graduation from high school in Seattle, she completed her degree in Nursing at Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating in the top of her class. Terry worked for several years in the Baptist Hospital system as a renal dialysis nurse and continued nursing until the children arrived.

She married Jim Beaty in 1978 and they started a family that includes Eric (born 1982) and Meredith (born 1986). Terry loved a good competition and was an avid runner that included a number of Half Marathons.

Terry and the family traveled the world and gathered friends everywhere they went. Her favorite “escape” was to any beach, especially Destin and Rosemary Beach. She was “Resee” to her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews were more like her own children. Terry immensely enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in all their hobbies, activities, and school.

Terry loved her family and friends and was always more interested in them than herself. Those who knew her well describe her as “beautiful on the outside and inside”, a “sweet” person and selfless in every walk of life. Terry was Love and Love was Terry.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, dedicated to her family and friends especially her “walking group”. Terry was deeply loved by her family and friends and a shining light and spirit that will be missed by all.

Terry was preceded in death by her father Gene Stewart, her mother Mildred Stewart, and her sister Denise Saunders.

She is survived by her husband Dr. James H. Beaty, her son Eric Christopher Beaty(amy), her daughter Meredith Beaty Roper (Michael), her twin sister Sherry Wheat (Wendell), her sister Linda Case, her brother Gene Bruce Stewart (Mary), her sister-in-law Kathy Beaty Cole, her 4 grandchildren Madelyn Adair Beaty(11), James Stewart Beaty(4), Anne Odette Roper(6), and Harold Beaty Roper “Hap”(3). Her 15 nieces and nephews completed her large loving family.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024, in the Sanctuary of Christ Church, 4488 Poplar Ave. Memorial funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday January 8, 2024, in the Sanctuary of Christ Church.
