Teen enters guilty plea for killing Memphis reverend, to serve 28 years
The teen charged with killing a Memphis reverend while stealing her car in mid-july 2022 pleaded guilty to lesser charges Thursday morning, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office said.
Miguel Andrade, 16, was charged with first-degree murder, carjacking, especially aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. Those charges were dropped and his plea agreement was to a second-degree murder charge and carjacking.
He was sentenced to 28 years for the two counts.
Autura Eason-williams was found dead in her driveway on July 18, 2022, and her Infiniti Q50 was stolen. A police affidavit said six bullet casings were found on the ground and her cause of death, presented in Andrade's co-defendant Eduard
Rodriguez Tabora's preliminary hearing, was "multiple gunshot wounds."
The affidavit said Eason-williams was shot and then pulled from the car prior to it being stolen, and surveillance footage showed her car being driven away by someone, who prosecutors say is Andrade.
Prosecutors opted to charge Andrade as an adult, and that request was granted. They also said Andrade was the one to fire multiple shots at Eason-williams.
A third person, another juvenile, was charged alongside Tabora and Andrade. The Commercial Appeal will not be naming them since they were charged as a juvenile and entered a plea deal in juvenile court.
