There’s a new No. 1 in this week’s Memphis-area basketball rankings

The Tennessee high school basketball postseason is quickly approachin­g. As we prepare for district tournament­s, here’s a look at the top 10 boys basketball teams in Memphis.

1. Cordova (23-1): The Wolves grabbed two wins last week, including a 49-43 victory over Bartlett to split the season series. They leap to the No. 1 spot in this week’s poll. Last week’s ranking: No. 2.

2. Bartlett (21-3): The Panthers fall to No. 2 following the loss to Cordova on the road last week. Last week’s ranking: No. 1.

3. Douglass (25-0): The Red Devils are still undefeated thanks to three players scoring in double-figures – including Jarmon Brittman and Terrence Holley – helping them beat Trezevant this past Friday. Last week’s ranking: No. 3.

4. Memphis University School (19-3): The Owls stunned Briarcrest last week thanks to 18 points from Myles Gill, winning 49-48. They jump back into the top five after the win. Last week’s ranking: No. 7.

5. Briarcrest (23-4): The Saints bounced back with a 51-44 win over Christian Brothers to complete the season sweep, getting 21 points from Cooper Haynes on Friday night. Last week’s ranking: No. 4.

6. FACS (20-3): Jacob Walker had consecutiv­e games of 20 or more points helping the Crusaders extend their winning streak to nine. Last week’s ranking: No. 5.

7. Whitehaven (18-7): Cameron Brown’s 17 points for the Tigers in their win over White Station has helped them win the last eight. They move up to No. 7

this week. Last week’s ranking: No. 8.

8. Ridgeway (17-5): The Roadrunner­s are winners of their past 11 games and move up to No. 8 this week. Last week’s ranking: No. 10.

9. Olive Branch (22-4): The Conquistad­ors make their debut in this week’s poll, winning their past nine games, most recently beating South Panola 66-41. Last week’s ranking: Not

ranked.

10. Memphis Central (15-8): The Warriors have won their past five games and have games against Whitehaven and Memphis East this week. Last week’s ranking: Not ranked.
