MEMPHIS - Harry George Soldan, Jr., a pillar of strength and kindness in his community, passed away peacefully on the evening of March 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 20, 1931, in Memphis, Tennessee, Harry led a life marked by resilience, dedication, and unwavering love.

Harry was born and raised in Memphis, where he attended Bellevue Elementary and later graduated from Bartlett High School. His adventurou­s spirit led him to serve his country in the US Navy with honor during the Korean War, where he displayed bravery as both an engineman and a medic on a submarine. He subsequent­ly served in the Air Force for two years as an Air Cadet. After his service to our country, Harry pursued higher education, graduating from Christian Brothers College with a degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g in 1963. He could build and renovate anything.

In August of 1980, Harry founded Industrial and Mechanical Contractor­s (IMC), a company that would become synonymous with excellence and integrity in the industry. Under his leadership, IMC flourished, serving numerous clients across the Mid-south and beyond. Harry’s dedication to his employees was unparallel­ed; he treated them with respect and dignity, fostering a culture of camaraderi­e and mutual support within his company.

Beyond his profession­al achievemen­ts, Harry’s true joy lay in his family and the memories they created together. Married to Barbara Ann for sixty-five cherished years, Harry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r. He and Barbara were blessed with four loving children: Leslie (Bill) Pretsch, Rebecca (Chip) Broadfoot, Jeff (Regina) Soldan, and Glenn (Nicole) Soldan, as well as ten adoring grandchild­ren. He is survived by his two brothers, Bert (Mary) Soldan, and Jimmy (Virginia) Soldan, along with many nieces and nephews. Harry’s love and guidance will forever resonate in the hearts of his family for generation­s to come.

Harry’s passions extended beyond the boardroom, as he found immense joy in teaching his children and their friends the art of skiing on Enid Lake, embarking on fishing adventures on the Little Red River at Heber Springs, and he lived to bird hunt being an excellent shot. A skilled woodworker, Harry’s craftsmans­hip was evident in the beautiful furniture he created, and each piece was a testament to his talent and love for each family member.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening, March 28th from 5 to 7 pm at Memphis Memorial Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Avenue. In honor of Harry’s life and legacy, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 3245 Central Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee, 38111, a cause dear to Harry’s heart.

Visitation will be held at Memphis Memorial Funeral Park at 5668 Poplar Avenue on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 3245 Central Avenue on Friday at 10 am. Any donations are requested to be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Memphis.
