Shirley King Bigham

-

OAKLAND - Shirley King Bigham left her home in Oakland, TN to be with Jesus and her first-born son David on March 26, 2024. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1955. Her father was an officer in the U.S. Navy, and the family moved about the country until settling in the Memphis area when she was in high school. She attended MSU, became a registered nurse, and worked at various hospitals in Memphis. She married Ron King in 1974 and had three children. Ron died at the age of 36. She married John Bigham in 1990. In 2001, she lost her first son David before his 21st birthday, and it had a devastating effect on her life.

She is preceded in death by first husband Ron King, parents Floyd and Shirley Saine, and son David Bigham. She is survived by second husband John Bigham; daughter Mary Bargin (Patrick); son Daniel (Cory); stepdaughter Sarah Crossley; brothers Bob Saine (Bonnie), Floyd Saine, Jr. (Darkis), James Saine (Nicole); and grandchildren Ariana, David, and Leo.

She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She was known for her kindness, putting her patients first, her love for animals – at least the furry and feathered ones, especially dogs, her Christmas letters with cleverness and a wee bit of hyperbole and too much glitter, speaking to strangers with disarming presumptuousness and a sometimes bizarre sense of humor. She enjoyed crafts, trivia, karaoke, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 4 at noon at Bellevue Baptist Church, followed by the memorial service at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Fayette County Animal Rescue, www. fayettefcar.com.
