A second series was needed Sunday night to decide the winner of the Professional Coonhunters Association's first big-money hunt near Jackson, Tenn. After judges looked at 87 dogs, they could not distinguish between Annabell, owned by Tommy Bondurant and Don Robinson of Union City, Tenn., and Rattler, owned by T.C. Jones of Winona, Miss. The hounds were put down Sunday night and hunted for five hours before the judges halted proceedings and awarded the $4,000 first prize to
Annabell, a Blue Tick hound. Rattler, also a Blue Tick, settled for $2,000. 100 years ago — 1924
The "Better Homes Exhibit," which will open May 4, will show how the same beauty, charm and artistic effect can be attained in a home, which represents a comparatively small outlay of money, as is found in a home where the cost of the furnishings does not have to be considered. This will be done in house number 3, which is one of a number of houses being built in Messick School Heights, by the Person-pumphrey Co., and is being loaned by this public spirited real estate firm as part of its contribution to the better homes movement.
