New township manager hired
Jamie Gwynn most recently worked in Northampton Township
Six months after firing its previous manager, the township supervisors have hired a new one.
Jamie Gwynn officially began work as the new township manager on Dec. 5.
He was hired during a budget work session in November, said supervisors’ Chairman Phil Agliano.
“I think we’ve got the right person in the job now,” Agliano said.
Previously, Gwynn, who lives in Sellersville, was assistant to
the manager in Northampton Township, Bucks County.
The 26-square-mile township has a $31 million budget, 165 employees and more than 40,000 residents.
By contrast, New Hanover is 21.6 square miles, has a population of about 11,000 and a budget of less than $10 million.
At the same time he held the Northampton job, Gwynn was also the executive director of the Bucks County Association of Township Officials.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Wilkes University and a masters in public administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
In June, the supervisors unanimously voted to give former manager Kevin Tobias his 30-day notice.
The board hired David Woglom of the Meyner Center at Lafayette College to find a new manager and in the meantime, employed former Lower Pottsgrove Township Manager Greg Prowant as interim manager.
The change followed several tumultuous months in township government, which also saw former township solicitor Paul Bauer resign.
