Pottstown man draws prison time for selling heroin
NORRISTOWN » A Pottstown man who admitted to trafficking heroin in the borough is on his way to state prison.
Wilbert Lee Clark, 37, of the first block of East Fifth Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to two to five years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, specifically heroin, in connection with incidents that occurred in December 2017.
The sentence was imposed by Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas C. Branca, who accepted a plea agreement in the matter.
With the charges, Pottstown police alleged Clark delivered an amount of packaged heroin/fentanyl to a confidential informant during a pre-arranged meeting in the borough in December 2017. The drugs were seized by police after the undercover drug buy.
Police alleged the substance was represented as heroin/fentanyl by Clark and was packaged in wax bags, the traditional way street drugs are sold, according to the criminal complaint.
At the time the substance was seized it was not field-tested by police but it was sent to a laboratory for further analysis.
“This policy was adopted for officer safety because of the dangers of fentanyl,” police wrote in the criminal complaint.
