Fall Bazaar: Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St., Pottstown, will hold its annual fall bazaar Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customers will be able to purchase pierogi, either potato or sauerkraut; holupki (stuffed cabbage); halushki (buttered noodles); potato pancakes; kielbasi; and various nut rolls, all made from authentic Slavic recipes. Homemade soups and baked goods also will be available. Customers can enjoy a meal at the church or buy takeout. The bazaar will feature gift basket raffles and a flea market. Designer Bag Bingo: The sixth annual Bingo Bags & Wine 4 Ethan fundraiser will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, at North End Fire Company, 301 Prospect St., Pottstown. Registration will start at 6 p.m., with bingo from 7 to 10 p.m. Prizes for bingo game winners will consist of assorted designer bags by Coach, Kate Spade and Michael Kors. There will also be raffles and a 50⁄50 drawing at the end of the night. The fundraiser will support Gilbertsville resident Ethan Schwartz, a 9-year-old boy who was born with the same congenital heart defect as Jimmy Kimmel’s son, Billy. Since age 2, he has been wheelchair bound with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, in addition to his congenital heart condition. Stove Plates and Franklin Stoves: Pottsgrove Manor will host the lecture “Stove Plates and Franklin Stoves” presented by historian Dan Graham Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. Hear about how some of the biggest names in colonial Pennsylvania history, Benjamin Franklin and John Potts, were connected through iron. Learn about how John Potts’ management of Warwick led to the production and sale of Franklin’s invention across the eastern seaboard, from Philadelphia to Boston and beyond. Discover how less familiar names such as Samuel Savage and Robert Grace helped to make the stove a staple of colonial heating and history. This program welcomes all ages, and there is a suggested $2 donation per person for this event. Pottsgrove Manor is located at 100 W. King St., Pottstown.
“Get A Job”: Ringing Hills Chorus of Sweet Adelines will present “Get a Job” Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s UCC, 1312 Old Swede Road, Douglassville. Lustre, 2018 international quartet champions, will appear as the special guest quartet. Tickets will be available at the door for $12 adults and $6 children. The venue is handicapped accessible. Good Night at the Manor: Uncover the evening work and routines of the Potts family and their household staff with the new exhibit Good Night at the Manor, which will run through Sunday, Nov. 11, at Pottsgrove Manor, 100 W. PMMC Offering Free Child
Care Safety Check: Pottstown Memorial Medical Center is offering free car seat safety checks on the third Friday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Goodwill Ambulance Company, 714 E. Child Certified Passenger Safety Technicians and trained volunteers will check child car seats for: recalls and damage; best fit for weight, height, and age; and will teach installation techniques. Celebrate Recovery: The newest ministry at Hopewell Community Church, 1130 Commerce Drive, Pottstown, will “Celebrate Recovery” through meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step program, unlike
other programs we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is biblically based. We will honor Jesus and Praise Him. All of the studies will emphasize forgiveness and salvation.
