Vol­un­teers help spruce up Edge­wood Ceme­tery

Vol­un­teers were out bright and early Oct. 20 in an ef­fort to help clean up Edge­wood Ceme­tery. Or­ga­niz­ers from Pottstown CARES and Ho­bart’s Run planned a com­mu­ni­ty­wide “Stop Com­plain­ing, Start Car­ing for Edge­wood Ceme­tery Day.” Dozens of vol­un­teers showed up at the 12-acre prop­erty to help with rak­ing, weed-whack­ing, mow­ing, plant­ing flow­ers, and par­tic­i­pat­ing in other im­prove­ment projects while learn­ing about the ceme­tery and its fas­ci­nat­ing back­ground from lo­cal his­to­ri­ans.

Vol­un­teers came to­gether for the “Stop Com­plain­ing, Start Car­ing for Edge­wood Ceme­tery Day.” Vol­un­teers could be seen clear­ing branches and do­ing other tasks through­out the ceme­tery.
