After years of bringing joy to children for Christmas, a local holiday project is getting even bigger.

For 35 years, Jim Frymoyer along with area organizations and businesses, have helped provide a happier holiday season for foster children with their annual holiday party.

What started out at Pottstown Moose Lodge 369 has over the years garnered more support and been held at various local locations. This year, the annual holiday party will be held at Sunnybrook Ballroom with the help of the NAACP, Pottstown Chapter and the Comfort Inn.

This year on December 15th, approximately 250 children in need will receive presents from Santa as well as a holiday meal. Kids will be able to participate in fun activities and are eligible for exciting door prizes during the annual party.

On Friday, Dec. 21, holiday food boxes will be distributed to over 150 families in need. A ham and turkey along with all the fixings will be provided to ensure a holiday meal.

Food box pick-up will be at the Pottstown YMCA.

But the party and boxes would not be possible without help from the Pottstown community. Many local businesses and community members have helped to make the annual event a success.

Donations have been submitted this year from groups including: The SunnyBrook Ballroom, Pottstown; Comfort Inn, Pottstown; Dana Corporation, Pottstown; Dana Retirees, Pottstown Area; Tri-County Toyota, Limerick; California Closets, Pottstown; Spring Ford Diner, Spring City; Center City Pizza, Spring City; Doc Rob Talamo; Scott and Liz Mcfarland; Ice House Deli, Pottstown; Sea Star Solutions, Limerick; Hobart’s Run, Pottstown; The Hill School, Pottstown;Local Police Departments, bike donations; NAACP, Pottstown Chapter; and Costco, Pottstown.

Community members can still help in time for Christmas by visiting one of several Angel Trees located throughout the area during November and early December. Donors can go to any of the listed locations and select an “angel tag.” Then, donors can purchase an unwrapped gift, including any necessary batteries, and return it, with the tag, to the Angel Tree. Gifts placed at the Angel Trees will be given at the holiday party on Dec. 15.
