Berks Youth Chorus announces PMEA District 10 Choral Read-Through
Berks Youth Chorus (BYC) is pleased to announce that the chorus will host a Choral Readthrough of PMEA District 10 Chorus Festival music, on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Muhlenberg High School.
High school singers who have been selected to participate in the District Chorus Festival and their teachers are invited to attend. The event is free.
Christopher Hoster, director of MasterSingers, will lead the rehearsal. In addition to serving as BYC director of MasterSingers, Mr. Hoster is founder and director of Opus One: Berks Chamber Choir; choir director and organist at St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Shillington; and interim director of choral activities at Albright College, Reading.
Last year, Mr. Hoster served as visiting assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove.
Mr. Hoster is a candidate for a doctorate in musical arts in choral music from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana, IL), where he earned a master of music degree in vocal performance and literature. He earned a bachelor of music education degree, summa cum laude, from Susquehanna University.
With its headquarters and many rehearsals located in Reading’s geographically accessible GoggleWorks, and through community engagement projects such as Summer Sing, Berks Youth Chorus is dedicated to making life-changing musical opportunities available to all children. BYC provides a safe, nurturing environment where singers achieve, become engaged in a community of fellow singers, and are nourished artistically, emotionally, and spiritually.
The concert season is supported by Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, and Reading Musical Foundation.
