Montco establishes ballot drop boxes for primary
Voter registration deadline May 3
NORRISTOWN » Eleven secure ballot drop boxes will soon be placed across Montgomery County ahead of the May 18 primary election, according to county officials.
Those who have registered for a mail-in ballot can drop off completed ballots starting at 10 a.m. on May 1 at the following locations:
• Cheltenham: Township Tax Office, 8230 Old York Road, Elkins Park
• Lansdale: District Court 38-1-28, 430 Pennbrook Parkway, Lansdale
• Lower Merion: Ludington Library, 5 South Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr
• Norristown: Montgomery County Airy Street Parking Lot, corner of Airy and DeKalb streets, Norristown
• Pottstown: Montgomery County Community College - South Hall, 101 College Drive, Pottstown
• Royersford: Victory Park Parking Lot, Second Avenue and Arch Street, Royersford
• Skippack: Montgomery County 4H Center, 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville
• Upper Dublin: Upper Dublin Library, 520 Virginia Drive, Fort Washington
• Upper Frederick: Green Lane Park Office, 2144 Snyder Road, Green Lane
• Upper Merion: Upper Merion Township Building, 175 W. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia6
• Upper Moreland, Willow Grove Annex, 102 N. York Road, Willow Grove
The drop boxes are open 24 hours per day. The ballots will then be delivered by members of the county’s sheriff’s office to the Montgomery County Office of Voter Services in downtown Norristown, according to county officials. The ballots will also include a date stamped when they are received.
Voters need to make sure their ballot is first placed inside the secrecy envelope before putting the sealed secrecy envelope inside the official return envelope. The voter declaration should also be completed on the back.
The drop box locations are equipped with CCTV video surveillance and anyone found depositing a ballot that does not belong to them would be referred to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, according to a county spokesperson.
The voter registration deadline is May 3. Anyone interested in voting by mail must apply for a mailin ballot by 5 p.m. on May 11, according to Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairwoman Val Arkoosh.
“This primary election is unique because all registered voters are able to vote on the proposed amendments to the PA
Constitution regardless of their party affiliation. This, along with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is creating a high demand for mail-in voting.” said Montgomery County Board of Elections Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr. “We want to continue to make voting accessible, secure, and convenient for all of our residents by offering several options to cast their vote by mail, in-person on Election Day or through a satellite office.”
Mail-in ballots need to be submitted by 5 p.m. on May 18.
Voters who initially decided to vote by mail can instead vote in-person by bringing their ballot and envelope to the polls. The mail-in ballot will then be voided by a poll worker. If the voter does not bring the mail-in ballot, they will be able to vote by provisional ballot.

Any voter with an illness or disability preventing them from dropping off a ballot can designate an agent from the same household to pick up or drop off their ballot, according to county officials. To obtain a certification of designated agent form, visit www.montcopa.org/VoterServices.
