FARM market opens 6th season May 15

POTTSTOWN » The downtown farmers’ market season starts Saturday, May 15, in the borough.

Now in its sixth season, the Pottstown FARM markets will be open in Smith Family Plaza, in front of Borough Hall in the 100 block of East High Street, two alternate Saturdays a month through October.

The market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Each month will feature special events and for this first week, the focus will be on Teacher Appreciati­on Week from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Teachers who show a valid ID will receive one free FARM coin worth $5 at vendors; a free raffle ticket for prizes worth up to $150 in vendor goods as well as special coupons from select vendors.

Additional­ly, the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center will have activities and Rupert Ele

mentary School Principal Matt Moyer, Pennsylvan­ia’s principal of the year, will read for storytimes from his new children’s book “The Adventures of David & Donald and the Fractured Flower Pot.” His book will also be for sale.

In addition, to produce from several local farms, the farm market features a total of 26 vendors, including a winery, a distillery, artisan vinegar, art, pickles, jewelry, cards, barbecue and Spanish sauces and salsas.

Director Sheila Dugan said there is currently a waiting list and when COVID-19 restrictio­ns are loosened, more vendors may be allowed into the space.
