Marion Local approves pay increases

MARIA STEIN — At its board meeting last week, Marion Local school board members approved new salaries for administra­tors and nonteachin­g employees.

Three percent raises were approved for administra­tors and 2% raises are approved for nonteachin­g staff members.

Moving forward, Superinten­dent Mike Pohlman’s salary will increase to $108,818; high school principal Tim Goodwin’s salary will increase to $96,779 and elementary principal Nick Wilker’s salary will be $93,311.

In other business:

• The board approved the hiring of Deb Ruhenkamp as high school head cook and Renee Hartings for shared services as food service supervisor/ dietician with St. Henry, winter sports coaches and a list of advisors for the upcoming school year.

• The board approved one-year contracts for the Marion Local winter sports coaches: Kurt Goettemoel­ler as head boys basketball coach; Jay Imwalle as varsity assistant boys basketball coach; Jacob Sherick as junior varsity boys basketball coach; Ted Jones as freshman boys basketball

coach; David Koenig as head junior high boys basketball coach; Tyler Prenger as assistant junior high boys basketball coach; Danielle Hartke as the head swimming coach; Steve Hemmelgarn as the assistant swimming coach; Beth Streib as the head girls basketball coach; Treva Fortkamp as the varsity assistant girls basketball coach; Maria Moeller as the junior varsity girls basketball coach; Larry Post as the freshman girls basketball coach; Ben Salazar as the head junior high girls basketball coach; Macy Griesdorn as the co-assistant girls basketball coach; Ann Schulze as the girls bowling coach and Sue Bruns as the boys bowling coach.

• The board approved a motion for the school to continue its membership in the Southweste­rn Ohio Educationa­l Purchasing Council for the upcoming school year.

• The board approved Tim Pohman to serve as a member of the Tri Star Advisory Board for the 2021-22 school year.

• The board approved to repair the existing asphalt base for the new track resurfacin­g project and for the amount to not exceed $29,375. Fifteen thousand dollars will be taken from the existing contingenc­y amount and $14,375 will be added to the total

project amount. The board had awarded a $217,979 contract back in April to Vasco Sports Contractor­s to install the new high school track.

• The board heard that the maintenanc­e and custodial personnel are continuing their work this summer preparing the district facilities and equipment for the 20212022 school year.

• The board entered executive session to discuss personnel. No action was taken.
