Board approves ticket prices for sporting events

NEW BREMEN — During a brief meeting on Wednesday night, school board members approved season ticket prices for next school year’s sporting events.

The board approved season ticket prices for the following sporting events: football, $40; volleyball, $91; fall student pass, $40; boys basketball, $88; girls basketball, $77; winter sports pass, $110 for adults and $50 for students; fall family pass, $155 for reserved seat and $145 for general admission; winter family pass, $220 for reserved seat and $210 for general admission; and senior citizen pass, $70 for general admission.

The family passes are good for two adults and their children in grades K-12. The pass is good for all high school and junior high events during that season.

The winter sports pass equals one reserved boys basketball seat and general admission to all boys and girls basketball and junior high basketball games.

Those ages 60 and older can purchase the senior citizen’s pass for $70 and the pass is good for general admission to all home games throughout the school year.

New Bremen Local School employees/ coaches can purchase season tickets at half the price.

The board also approved various treasurer and superinten­dent’s recommenda­tions.

The board approved the tutoring contracts of Derek Wolters and Linda Kremer; approved a supplement­al contract for certified employee for Craig Szymczak as assistant junior high football coach; approved community-filled supplement­al contracts for football coaches Spencer Alig, Zach Fry, Mark Sharp, Richard Bell and Caleb Spencer; approved contracts for 13 substitute bus drivers;

approved contracts for six substitute cafeteria workers; approved three contracts for substitute custodians and approved contracts for Abigale Powers and Mackenzie Waterman for summer work.

The board also approved a renewal quote from the Ohio School Plan for property, auto, liability, violence, pollution and cyber insurance at a rate of $41,164 for fiscal year 22-23. The rate was an overall increase of 9.09%.

In his report, Superinten­dent Jason Schrader told board members that crews will begin digging holes for posts as constructi­on on the bus maintenanc­e facility will begin soon.

He said that playground equipment has been shipped and that work on the project will be complete by the time school starts.

Schrader reported that the fund drive for the New Bremen Education Foundation was recently completed. There were a total of 108 scholarshi­ps awarded to recent graduates totaling $108,713, with an additional $43,500 available in renewable scholarshi­ps.

In addition to the New Bremen Education Foundation scholarshi­ps, there were also around 51 others that were locally or regionally awarded.

The total scholarshi­ps for the class of 2022 from all sources totaled $504,223.

Schrader also reported 809 as the total year-end enrollment for the 2021-22 school year. That’s the highest total since the district had 816 students in 2013-14.
