100 Years Ago Jan. 18, 1924

The men at the Hoying-Westerheid­e company’s hardware store are doing the preliminar­y work necessary to install a furnace in the basement under the sales room.

Mr. and Mrs. August Luckman, Nr. And Mrs. Harry Luckman and Mrs. Elizabeth Weghorst motored to Lima to join the number of people who were highly expectant of hearing something quite rare when the Sistine choir of Rome, Italy gave a concert there.

Fifty-four Infants baptized by the Pastors of St. Augustine church in 1923 – Among the number were two pairs of twins, all of whom were boys. There were 33 Johns and Williams, and 21 Marys and Elizabeths.

75 Years Ago Jan 14, 1949

Tom Frericks blasted the meshes for 39 points as Minster returned to winning ways by taking a 53 – 45 decision over Coldwater. Capt. Frericks played the entire game with a bad ankle, refusing to be removed. (Tom went on the become the athletic director at UD)

50 Years Ago Jan. 17, 1974

Jeff Sacksteder Graduates From Police Academy – The Columbus,

Ohio Police Academy is pleased to announce the graduation of Jeffery (Sax) Sacksteder of Minster from the Police Academy on December 28, 1973. Mr. Sacksteder attained the second highest grade of his class with a score of 92.14%.

On Sunday evening, March 3ed, the choir of Immaculate Conception Church of Dayton, will join the St. Augustine Choir in St. Augustine Church to present a program of sacred choral music.

St. Aloysius Church in Carthagena was the setting for the November 10 wedding of Jane Koesters and Donald Prenger. The groom’s brother James Prenger and James Keller sang and played guitars at the mass.
