100 Years Ago April 25, 1924 “Minster has been Roneyed” declared a wag on last Saturday after a small squad of officers had ransacked some residences in search of illicit liquor. This term was applied to the Maneuverin­g of the keen nosed prowlers because among their number was the notorious Constable Roney from Buckland.

Mr. T.F. Rager and his daughter Dorothy left Minster on last Sunday for California where they will visit for an indefinite length of time. At about the same time Mrs. Rager left for Detroit, Michigan, where she will stay with their son Everett during the absence of her husband and daughter.

Wonderful Addition to the Equipment of St. Augustine Church Here – A Handsom Marble Alter Has been Donated by their Parishione­rs – They were tempted by the magnificen­ce of a marble alter that Benzinger Brothers of Cincinnati had for sale. The alter is built of marble from the quarries in Italy.

75 Years Ago April 22, 1949 F.J. Boerger, an educator and liturgical musician in Minster many years ago, died at Indianapol­is, Ind. Professor Boerger, who was 80 came here in December of 1895, He was music teacher, choir leader and organist for St. Augustine’s church and at the same time served as principal of Minster High School. He and his family went from here to Indianapol­is in

June 1912.

Athletic Club Backs Circus Appearance – The Kelly and Morris Circus will play Minster one day under sponsorshi­p of the Minster Athletic club. Proceeds will go into the fund being raised for a lighted field here. There will be two performanc­es at the village lot on East Fourth street at 4pm and 8 pm. Admission will be 75 cents and 45 cents.

Raymond Bergman, University of Cincinnati; Roland Bergman, Sinclair college, Dayton, and Miss Mary Louise Bergman of the Dayton Art Institute, spent the weekend visiting their mother Mrs. Louise Bergman.

Frank Busse Putting Up New Biuilding – Work is under way on a new 40 by 26-foot frame building to house the meat market of Frank Busse of Minster, located along US 25 a short distance south of State Route 274, near Bettinger’s corner. Mr. Busse entered the retail place several years and has worked up his trade to where a new building was found necessary. Frank is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Busse of Minster.

Plan Fishing Reserve in Abandon Feeder – Authorizat­ion to use the former Lake Loramie

feeder to the Miami and Erie Canal for fishing purposes has been issued by the state department of public works. Channel of the nearly one-mile length of the feeder would be deepened and widened to 50 feet if plans of members of the associatio­n are realized. 50 Years Ago April 25, 1974 Open House at Minster Eagle’s Hall – Opne of Minster’s oldest organizati­ons, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1391 will hold an open house of the newly remodeled upstairs hall. The hall has been completely remodeled and expanded and air conditioni­ng has been added. The ceilings have been lowered and paneling put on the walls.

The Minster Girls track team won their third triangular meet of the season plus one dual in as many starts for the 1974 season. Tuesday at Versailles, the gals set 7 school records. Minster was an easy victor, piling up 88 ½ points. The all-weather surface track was the major explanatio­n for the establishm­ent of the new records.

Band Members Clean Roadways – The county brought in six trucks with drivers and the band furnished the help. There were 31 volunteers who helped to beautify the countrysid­e. They cleaned up around 57 miles of Auglaize County Highways.

Kite Fly – There will be a “kite fly” on Saturday from 8 am to 10 am at the Arrowhead Park Golf Course, Inc. It will be open to the public. Prizes will be given for: Best looking kite, Highest flying kite, smallest kite with at least 6 feet of string, youngest kite flier and oldest kite flyer.
