Dutch blanked by Hollidaysburg
The St. Marys Area High School baseball team was dealt an 8-0 defeat by the visiting Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers on Tuesday afternoon at Berwind Park.
Hollidaysburg’s Carson Kesinger worked six innings, giving up two hits and walking one while striking out nine. Bryce Martellacci took over for the final inning, striking out one.
A trio of pitchers spent time on the mound for the Dutchmen. Connor Bressler started the game and worked the first four innings, giving up five hits, walking four, and striking out one. Alex Vollmer took over for one and one-third innings, giving up three hits, walking four, and striking out one. Logan Mosier worked the final one and twothirds innings, giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out one.
Martellacci drew a one-out walk in the top of the opening inning for Hollidaysburg and went on to score to put the team’s first run on the board. The Dutch went down in order in the home half of the inning.
Hollidaysburg left a runner stranded in the top of the second. Christian Coudriet hit a one-out single for St. Marys in the home half of the inning but was left stranded.
Neither team was able to get anything going in the third, with the score remaining 1-0 in favor of Hollidaysburg.
The Golden Tigers added two runs to their lead in the top of the fourth.
Zach Miller, Landon Perry, and Tyler Faber all singled to start the fourth inning for Hollidaysburg, with Miller and Faber eventually making it around to score to increase Hollidaysburg’s lead to 3-0. The Dutch went down in order in the bottom of the inning.
Caleb Gampe drew a leadoff walk for Hollidaysburg in the top of the fifth and went on to score to extend the team’s lead to 4-0. The Dutch went down in order in the home half of the inning.
Hollidaysburg scored their final four runs in the top of the sixth to make their lead 8-0. St. Marys left Logan Mosier stranded following a one-out single in the home half of the inning.
Neither team was able to score in the seventh, and Hollidaysburg headed home with the 8-0 victory.
The Dutch are next scheduled to be in action on Tuesday, April 20 when they host Williamsport in a 4:30 p.m. game at Berwind Park.
