SMA track and field squads swept by Punxsutawney on the road
The St. Marys Area High School track and field squads were in action on the road in Punxsutawney on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Chucks defeated the Lady Dutch by a score of 81-69, and the Chucks defeated the Dutchmen 126-24.
The Lady Dutch had several individual event winners.
Payton Bauer won the girls' shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 7.5 inches and the girls’ discus with a throw of 92 feet, 6 inches.
Maura Caskey won girls’ triple jump with a jump of 31 feet, 8.5 inches.
Gianna Whitaker won the girls’ 100 meter dash in a time of 13.70.
Maura Caskey won the girls’ 300 meter hurdles in a time of 54.00.
Samantha Hayes won the girls’ 800 meter run in a time of 2:32.40.
Kyla Johnson won the girls’ 3200 meter run in a time of 12:48.60.
The Lady Dutch team of Gianna Whitaker, ViviAnne Catalone, Isabella Catalone, and Abby Erich won the girls’ 4x100 relay in a time of 55.60, and the team of ViviAnne Catalone, Isabella Catalone, Gina VanSlander, and Samantha Hayes won the girls’ 4x400 relay in a time of 4:25.30.
The Dutchmen claimed victory in one individual event and one relay.
Aaron Frey won the boys’ 800 meter run in a time of 2:14.80.
The Dutch team of Alex Amador, Aaron Frey, Wyatt Foster, and Nicholas Hayes won the boys’ 4x800 relay in a time of 9:19.20.
The St. Marys Area squads are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Coudersport for an 11 a.m. meet.
