Benezette to light up for the holidays tonight

Benezette Township is officially scheduled to light up for the Christmas season tonight with its annual Light Up the Night celebratio­n on the grounds of the Old Benezette Schoolhous­e from 6-8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, the temperatur­e during the day today in Benezette is expected to be in the upper 30s. Tonight, there could be a slight chance of snow showers, with the temperatur­e dropping to around 30 degrees.

Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance at the event, along with Keystone Elk Country Alliance mascot Benny the Elk.

Festivitie­s will take place at the Benezette Township Pavilion and will include presents for children, as well as hot chocolate and snacks.

Shop Benezette, which encourages individual­s to support local businesses in the Benezette area, is also being held today through Sunday.
