William Charles Erich, 80, of St. Marys passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021 at Penn Highlands Elk.

Born in St. Marys to William George and Marie Schlimm Erich, he was a loving brother to Kathleen (Erich) Wood, Joann Erich, Wayne Erich, and Christine (Erich) Meier.

He attended Central High School and then went on to join the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. Upon completing his service, he then attended TriState University in Michigan and Bryant and Stratton in Buffalo, New York to pursue a career in accounting.

After returning home to St. Marys, he accepted a job at Keystone Powdered Metal. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Sarah Garner, in church, and they were married in September of 1973. They welcomed their son, Matthew James, in November of 1975, and their daughter, Maura Rose, in October of 1983.

During his life, he was a devoted Catholic and an active member of both the St. Marys and Sacred Heart Parishes; a member of both the Knights of Columbus (where he served as Grand Knight in 1983) and the Protective Fraternal League. He was a caring neighbor and a supportive friend to many.

He enjoyed seeing his children marry, welcoming Amy Bloom Erich and Michael Pohland to the family, along with four grandchildren – Amelia Mae and Aiden James Erich, and Ava Micaela and Alexander Charles Pohland. He was also a loving uncle and great-uncle.

He was unfailingly devout in his faith and found simple joys in watching the birds or sitting around a campfire.
