Craig W. Newton, Jr., 52, of 334 Pheasant Hill Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 20, 1969, in St. Marys, son of Craig Newton, Sr. and JoAnn Fritz Goodreau. Craig was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1988. He was the former owner of Benzinger Feed & Game Farm and Boarding Kennel as well as an employee of the United States Postal Service in recent years.

On June 24, 1995, in the Sacred Heart Church, Craig married Julie Schlimm, his best friend and love of his life.

Along with his wife, Julie, his mother, JoAnn, and his father, Craig, he is survived by three daughters: Taylor, Tori, and Payton Newton all at home; his son: Ryan Newton at home; his sister: Dawn Swicklik and her husband Kevin of Mountain Top, PA; his stepfather: Steve Goodreau of St. Marys; his stepmother: Lucy Newton of Hummelstow­n; and by his brothers and sisters-in-law as well as their families.

Craig was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He was a tremendous basketball player and simply loved all sports. Whether it be hunting, training bird dogs, or maintainin­g his property on his tractor, he enjoyed being outdoors. Above anything else, Craig was a family man. He loved his wife and adored his children. Craig was proud of his family and supported his children in whatever activity or endeavor they wanted to pursue. He was their biggest fan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials if desired may be made to the Elk County Catholic High School Athletic Associatio­n, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857, or to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
