ERIE - The war in Ukraine has created the need for humanitarian efforts across the world. Among the many needs of the war-torn region include a severe shortage of blood bags and other blood collection supplies that are essential to the immediate care of patients in Ukraine. Community Blood Bank, Blood Centers of America (BCA) and America’s Blood Centers (ABC) have joined together with Fresenius Kabi in a nationwide campaign to provide needed blood-collection and transfusion supplies to Ukraine. CBB is participating in a campaign where blood donors can donate blood to save lives here locally while also extending a helping hand to Ukraine.

During the week of May 2-7, every donation of blood at the CBB Donor Center or at a blood drive in our communities will generate a $20 contribution to the relief efforts with a cap of $3,000. All proceeds will be used to purchase the blood collection supplies most needed in Ukraine. $10 of each contribution is being made by CBB, and Fresenius Kabi will provide a matching donation. We are excited at the opportunity to raise money for much needed blood supplies in the war-torn region and still provide lifesaving blood products locally. In addition, all donors for the month of May will be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 gas gift card!

Community Blood Bank is open at 2646 Peach St. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
