ECC track and field squads compete at Lock Haven Invitation­al

Members of the Elk County Catholic High School girls’ and boys’ track and field teams were in action over the weekend at the 25th Annual LHU High School Classic in Lock Haven.

In the battle for the team titles, the Lady Crusaders placed ninth out of 21 teams with 41 points, and the Crusaders placed 21st out of 22 teams with three points.

While the ECC squads did not have any individual event winners at the meet, several members of the Lady Crusaders did post top 10 finishes in their respective events.

Sami Straub and Grace Neubert both earned runner-up finishes on the day. Straub placed second in triple jump with a jump of 34’2.25” and was also ninth in the 300 meter hurdles in 51.55 seconds. Neubert was the runner-up in the 3200 meter run, finishing in a time of 11:56.93.

Allison Geci earned a third place finish in the shot put with a throw of 34’7.75”. Geci also placed 13th in discus with a throw of 82’1”.

Sophia Bille placed third in the 1600 meter run in 5:33.26. Also for the Lady Crusaders, Gianna Bille placed 18th in 6:07.28.

Tami Geci placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 15’5.5”. Additional­ly, ECC’s Rachel Sloff placed 12th in the event with a jump of 14’11.25”, and Abby Hasselman placed 38th with a jump of 12’3”.

Kiri Emmert tied for 20th in the high jump with a jump of 4’2”, Kirsten Roberts placed 19th in shot put with a throw of 28’1” and 17th in discus with a throw of 80’11”, Madison Marzullo placed 20th in shot put with a throw of 28’0.75” and 14th in javelin with a throw of 89’7”, Gracee Breindel placed 18th in javelin with a throw of 83’5”, Isabella Macer placed 27th in the 400 meter dash in 1:09.98 and 37th in the 800 meter run in 2:59.98, Andrea Baron placed 36th in the 400 meter dash in 1:13.45, Abby Hasselman placed 30th in the 300 meter hurdles in 1:00.60, Rachel Sloff placed 31st in the 200 meter dash in 30.69, and Melena Piccirillo placed 43rd in the 200 meter dash in 34.40.

In the relay events, the Lady Crusaders placed third in the 4x800 in 10:04.50, fifth in the 4x400 in 4:26.09, and ninth in the 4x100 in 55.84.

For the Crusaders, Adam Straub and Nick Cherry both tied for 12th in the high jump with jumps of 5’4”, and Bobby Urmann placed 12th in the 300 meter hurdles in 45.73 seconds.

In long jump, Timmy Brannock placed 30th with a jump of 16’3.75”, Nick Cherry placed 34th with a jump of 15’9.75”, and Bobby Urmann placed 37th with a jump of 15’1.25”.

In the throwing events, James Foradora placed 16th in discus with a throw of 104’3”, 27th in shot put with a throw of 36’4.25”, and 23rd in javelin with a throw of 104’6”. Additional­ly, Kayne Smith placed 34th in shot put with a throw of 19’8”.

On the track, Adam Straub placed 23rd in the 1600 meter run in 5:07.86 and 24th in the 800 meter run in 2:22.56, Julian Funaki placed 27th in the 800 meter run in 2:23.56 and 39th in the 1600 meter run in 5:24.96, Lucas Polaski placed 35th in the 800 meter run in 2:25.83 and 41st in the 1600 meter run in 5:32.34, Aaron Lanzel placed 20th in the 3200 meter run in 11:40.57, and Isaac Grunenwald placed 37th in the 200 meter dash in 32.09 seconds.

Additional­ly, the Crusader 4x800 meter relay team placed sixth in 9:10.81.

The ECC track and field teams will be back in action at home on Tuesday when they play host to squads from Bradford in a 4:15 p.m. meet.
