SMA junior high track teams were in action in Johnsonbur­g over the weekend

The St. Marys Area junior high girls’ and boys’ track and field teams were in action at the 32nd Annual Johnsonbur­g Junior High Track Invitation­al over the weekend, with the Lady Dutch placing sixth out of 13 teams with 44 points and the Dutchmen placing seventh out of 14 teams with 35 points.

The Lady Dutch were led by Christina Fronz, who placed first in the girls’ 3200 meter run in 13:28.7. Fronz was also third in the 800 meter run in 2:50.3.

The 4x800 meter relay team came close to winning but ended up placing second in a tie of 11:43.0. DuBois Area won the event in a time of 11:42.7.

Izzy Collins placed third in shot put with a throw of 28’ and fourth in discus with a throw of 66’5”.

Desirae Mertz placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 30.9 seconds and sixth in the 100 meter dash in 14.9 seconds.

Pilar Pfoutz placed fifth in discus with a throw of 60’10”.

Anna Porkolab placed sixth in the 1600 meter run in 6:36.1, Megan Shine placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 59.2 seconds, and Frankie Craig placed sixth in discus with a throw of 60’2”.

In the boys’ events, Andrew Field led the way for the Dutchmen with a trio of third place finishes. Field placed third in long jump with a jump of 17’2”, third in triple jump with a jump of 36’2.75”, and tied Johnsonbur­g’s Frankie Miller for third in high jump with a jump of 5’2”.

Lukasz Curtis placed third in the 400 meter dash in 58.4 seconds, and Jayden Overly placed third in shot put with a throw of 32’6”.

Clay Solada placed fourth in the 800 meter run in 2:35.3.

Carter Hoffman placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 56.8 seconds.

Additional­ly, the Crusader 4x400 meter relay team placed sixth in 4:46.7.
