SMA track and field squads take on DuBois, Port Allegany
The St. Marys Area High School girls’ and boys’ track and field squads played host to teams from DuBois Area and Port Allegany on Monday afternoon.
The DuBois team swept the SMA squads, with the Lady Beavers defeating the Lady Dutch 84-66 and the Beavers winning big over the Dutchmen 11436. Both St. Marys Area squads defeated Port Allegany, with the Lady Duch winning 112-24 against the Lady Gators and the Dutchmen defeating the Gators 84-57.
DuBois also swept Port Allegany, with the Lady Beavers winning 131-19 against the Gators and the Beavers defeating the Gators 125-25.
Against DuBois Area, the Lady Dutch won nine individual events and two relays.
Isabelle Caskey and Payton Bauer were both two-event winners. Caskey won the 100 meter dash in 13.33 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 27.75 seconds. Bauer won the discus with a throw of 110’6” and the shot put with a throw of 34’8.5”.
Emma Garstka won the 100 meter hurdles in 17 seconds, Maura Caskey won the 300 meter hurdles in 48.25 seconds, Gabby Pistner won the 800 meter run in 2:26.35, Maddy Wittman won pole vault with a jump of 8’, and Rylee Nicklas won javelin with a throw of 104’3”.
Also for the Lady Dutch, the 4x800 meter relay team had a winning time of 11:00.02, and the 4x400 meter relay time had a winning time of 4:17.73.
In the boy’s meet between St. Marys and DuBois, the Dutchmen had four individual event winners. Wyatt Foster won the 3200 meter run in 10:34.90, Graysen Spangler won the 300 meter hurdles in 47.73 seconds, Derek Villella won javelin with a throw of 122’9”, and Conner Smith won long jump with a jump of 18’.
Against Port Allegany, the Lady Dutch won 12 individual events and all three relays.
Isabelle Caskey and Payton Bauer remained two-event winners, with Caskey winning the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash in times of 13.33 seconds and 27.75 seconds, respectively, and Bauer winning the discus and shot put with throws of 110’6” and 34’8.5”, respectively.
Emma Garstka won the 100 meter hurdles in 17 seconds, Lucia Hayes won the 1600 meter run in 6:05.55, Mia Piccirillo won the 400 meter dash in 1:10.43, Maura Caskey won the 300 meter hurdles in 48.25 seconds, Gabby Pistner won the 800 meter run in 2:26.35, Paige Bauer won the 3200 meter run in 14:09.69, Holly Anthony won the high jump with a jump of 4’6”, and Rylee Nicklas won javelin with a throw of 104’3”.
In the relay events, the Lady Dutch 4x800 meter relay team had a winning time of 11:00.02, the 4x100 meter relay team had a winning time of 53.28 seconds, and the 4x400 meter relay team had a winning time of 4:17.73.
In the boys’ meet between St. Marys and Port Allegany, the Dutchmen won nine individual events and one relay.
Dalton Steel was a two-event winner, placing first in the 100 meter dash in 11.71 seconds and first in the 200 meter dash in 23.97 seconds.
Graysen Spangler won the 110 meter hurdles in 17.87 seconds, Augustus Secco won the 1600 meter run in 4:55.15, Nicholas Hayes won the 800 meter run in 2:10.28, Wyatt Foster won the 3200 meter run in 10:34.90, Jason McAnany won pole vault with a jump of 9’, Derek Villella won javelin with a throw of 122’9”, and Conner Smith won long jump with a jump of 18’.
Additionally, the Dutch 4x800 meter relay team had a winning time of 9:45.79.
