-

Recently, St. Marys Court 95 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDofA) held their annual Mother’s Day Dinner and May Crowning.

Forty-six members and 26 guests gathered to honor our Blessed Mother. In addition, each member brought a “Baby Shower” gift that was given to representative from Catholic Charities and the Maternity Closest.

Some of the most talented CDofA members made homemade quilts, crocheted blankets and clothing for the Maternity Closets program. Some members bought clothing and other needed items. In addition, the organization gave a monetary donation to the closet.

This ministry is designed to help mothers in need of assistance. The Maternity Closet serves parents with children up to age three. Through the program they can visit once a month to receive free items for their child.

Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services has provided a variety of services and programs to the residents of Elk County.

The Pregnancy and Parenting Program is available to all Elk County families that are expecting a child and till their child turns one years old. The members gathered a number of diapers for their program and also made a monetary donation. Diapers are distributed to local families along with counseling, educations and other services that are needed by young families.

Finally, the group sang Happy Birthday and presented a flower bouquet to Rita Herbstritt who is turning 99. Rita enjoyed the evening as she has for many years.
