Horton Township supervisor­s upgrade township building

HORTON TWP. - At a recent meeting of the Horton Township Supervisor­s, two purchases were made. One was for the 14 KW Kohler generator and full hook up from Caylor Greeley Electric in Brookville in the amount of cost to the township of $7,350 as the township building is considered the emergency shelter for Horton Township. Also purchased and approved by the supervisor­s was a new office door in the amount of $1,653 installed.

The minutes from the April meeting and the Treasurers report were both approved as presented.

Oil bids were opened with Midland Asphalt coming in with the winning bid in the amount of $2.59 per gallon to a total of $51,800.

The Roadmaster continues to work on roads around the township with grading and cold patching.

Horton Township Fire Chief Chad Guaglianon­e informed the supervisor­s the department was dispatched to 17 calls during the month of April.

Terry Maher with the Brockway Fourth of July Celebratio­n Committee requested permission for the use of township roads for the upcoming bike race. The request was approved by the supervisor­s. Maher also praised the Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department (HTVFD) for all the assistance they give to make the celebratio­n a success and giving the event riders a safe ride.

Authority (BWA) presented a request for assistance in obtaining funding for several projects that needed to be addressed which included two areas where fire hydrants are out of service due to issues with pumping capacity. The two roads with out working fire hydrants are Rattlesnak­e and Whetstone Road. No decision regarding funding was made at the May meeting.

The next meeting of the Horton Township Supervisor­s is scheduled for June 8 at 6 p.m.
