- By Becky Polaski Staff Writer

The Warren Lady Dragons used four runs to jump out to an early lead against ECC on Tuesday afternoon and led all the way to send the Lady Crusaders home with a 9-2 loss.

ECC scored both of their runs in the top of the third, with Warren adding three more to their lead in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth.

Emily Mourer went the distance in the circle for ECC, giving up 11 hits, walking two, and striking out two.

Alana Stuart pitched for Warren, giving up eight hits, walking four, and striking out eight.

The Lady Crusaders’ lone extra-base hit was a double by Lydia Anderson.

ECC got their first base runner of the day when Gabby Weisner drew a one-out walk in the top of the first, but a double play brought Warren up to bat. The Lady Dragons scored their first four runs in the bottom of the inning for an early lead.

The Lady Crusaders left the bases loaded in the top of the second. Mourer led off the inning with a single, with Reagan Bauer entering the game as a courtesy

Runner. Sydney Alexander singled to join her on base, and then Caitlyn Vollmer drew a walk to load the bases with no outs. Two strikeouts and a groundout kept ECC off the board.

Batters for Warren went down in order in the home half of the inning.

ECC scored both of their runs in the top of the third.

Weisner got things started with a one-out single, and then Anderson walked to join her on base. A single by Mourer scored Weisner, and then Anderson scored as Alexander hit into a fielder’s choice, cutting Warren’s lead to 4-2.

However, that would be as close as ECC would get.

Warren left a pair of runners stranded in the bottom of the inning.

Ellie Baron led off the top of the fourth with a single for ECC but was left stranded. Warren could not get anything going in the home half of the inning.

Anderson hit a one-out triple in the top of the fifth, but a strikeout and a groundout prevented her from scoring.

Warren tacked three runs onto their lead in the bottom of the fifth, making the score 7-2.

After ECC left Baron stranded following a oneout walk in the top of the sixth, the Lady Dragons scored their final pair of runs in the home half of the inning to go up 9-2.

In the top of the seventh, Lucy Klawuhn led off with a single for ECC but was erased at second as Weisner hit into a fielder’s choice. Anderson singled, but Weisner was out trying to advance to third on the play. A flyout then ended the game, with Warren winning 9-2.

The Lady Crusaders are scheduled to be back in action at home today as they host Otto-Eldred in a 4:15 p.m. contest at Benzinger Park.
