SMI, CTI remain perfect in softball play

St. Marys Insurance and Carlson Technologi­es both kept their records and Allegheny Coatings picked up their first win of the season in early week action in St. Marys Mens League Softball action at the Robin Road Sports Complex.

In a close game to open the week, trailing by a run after four innings, Tubby’s Tavern (2-1) rallied and held on to defeat Tyler Landscape 14-12. A sixth inning two-run home run by Garrett Horning provided the spark for Tubby’s.

Horning finished 3 for 4, Matt Kriner added a triple and a double and Bobby Jack pitched in a double for the winners.

Leading the way for Tyler (0-3) was Nate Hoffman’s 3 for 4 performanc­e that included a pair of home runs, double and 5 RBI’s. Dalton Bauer also homered and doubled, and Dan Wimer clocked a double.

In Monday’s late game, Carlson Technologi­es (3-0) took care of business, beating Wildwoods (0-3) in four innings, 23-1.

Mike Miraglia led CTI, going 4 for 4 with a home run and 6 RBI. Brett Herzing was also 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI. Eric Herzing added a tworun home run.

Allegheny Coatings (1-2) picked up their first win of the season in the early game Tuesday night, pounding out 31 hits in knocking off Dino’s Place (0-4) by the score of 28-2 in four innings.

Kevin Hoy and Andy Eck both went 4 for 4 to lead the Goats. Eck homered and doubled and collected 4 RBI’s. Cole Peterson, Derek Meyer, and Nick Brennen all went deep as well, while Hoy and Joe McLaughlin both added doubles. Peterson finished with 5 RBI’s.

In the Tuesday nightcap, Tyler Landscape and St. Marys Insurance went extra innings, with Kenny Vogt hitting a walkoff, two-run bomb in the bottom of the eighth to rally SMI (3-0) to the win, 12-11.

Tyler (0-4) rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh on a Dalton Bauer three run dinger and then held SMI scoreless in the bottom half of the frame to send it to extra innings. Tyler Daniels solo blast in the top of the eighth gave Tyler the lead, but the Landscaper­s couldn’t make it stand up.

Vogt finished the game with 2 home runs and 4 RBI to lead the Insurancem­en. Lucas Wendel was 4 for 5 with a double, Nathan Liggett went yard, Jake Cortina added another double and Ben Cortina knocked in 3 runs.

Jordan Weinzierl led Tyler with a 4 for 4 performanc­e, all singles. Nate Hoffman homered and garnered 5 RBI’s and Bauer finished the game going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.

Leading the way for Dino’s (0-4) was Connor Bressler, who went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Isaac Schlimm knocked in the other run for Dino’s with an RBI single.
