Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend encourages girls to get outdoors
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania and Girl Scouts of the USA encourage girls to get outdoors during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend, celebrated September 10–11 this year.
Every year, Girl Scouts explore the natural wonders found across our country during this annual event. Girl Scouts nationwide, along with their troops, friends, and families, celebrate a love of the outdoors in state parks across all 50 states and internationally.
With 56 state parks and forests in western Pennsylvania, local Girl Scouts have immeasurable resources and experiences available to them to engage in outdoor adventures and environmental stewardship. That’s 56 places to bike, hike, camp, conserve, protect, and make amazing memories. View the state parks located in western Pennsylvania online.
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is partnering with local state parks including Pymatuning State Park, Moraine State Park, Goddard State Park, McConnells Mill State Park, Raccoon Creek State Park, and Presque Isle State Park to host a series of events during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend. Registration and event information can be found on our activities page.
Girl Scouts provides girls access to new and challenging outdoor experiences, helping them to move outside of their comfort zones and preparing them to be outdoor and nature enthusiasts who take the lead in caring for the environment. Eight in ten girls say Girl Scouting allows them to do outdoor activities they have never done before and wouldn’t have done otherwise.
