State police at Ridgway Crash

JAY TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigat­ing a crash at 4:10 p.m. on Jan. 26 on Bennetts Valley Highway, 244 feet south of Rita Lane, in Jay Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2011 Nissan Maxima operated by Stephen A. Ross, 57, of St. Marys, was traveling north on SR 255. While negotiatin­g a slight left hand curve, the Nissan left the west side of the roadway, striking a tree and coming to final rest. Ross reported minor injuries but refused transporta­tion by EMS. Assisting on scene were Bennetts Valley EMS and D&T Towing.

Crash

JONES TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigat­ing a crash that occurred recently in Jones Township. According to PSP, the crash occurred as unit #1 was traveling south on SR 219 in Jones Township when, for unknown reasons, a trailer tire fell off and struck unit #2 as it was traveling north on SR 219. Unit #2’s airbags deployed as it sustained disabling damage to the 10 o’clock position. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash and all involved persons were wearing their seat belts.

Theft by deception – ID theft

RIDGWAY TWP. – On Jan. 27 at 11:54 a.m., PSP Ridgway received a report of a fraudulent unemployme­nt account. The victim was listed as being a 61-year-old Johnsonbur­g man. The investigat­ion continues.

Crash

HIGHLAND TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigat­ing a crash that occurred on Jan. 23 at 1:31 p.m. on SR 66 and 948 in Highland Township. According to PSP, the crash occurred as a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by Ryan J. Lerner, 33, of Ford City, was traveling south on SR 66 when he lost control and went over an embankment, striking a tree. The Chevrolet was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. Assisting on scene were Flickerwoo­d Auto Towing and Emergycare EMS.

Harassment

JAY TWP. – At 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2022, PSP Ridgway investigat­ed a Childline call at a location on Apple Street in Jay Township. Upon further investigat­ion, it was determined no crime occurred.

Harassment

JONES TWP. – At 12:21 a.m. on Jan. 9, PSP Ridgway was called to Burning Well Road in Jones Township regarding an incident of harassment. The victim was listed as being a 59-year-old Wilcox woman. This investigat­ion continues.

Theft

HORTON TWP. – At 9:16 a.m. on Dec. 15, 2022, PSP Ridgway was contacted for a report of a theft at 4671 Route 219 in Horton Township. The victim was listed as being Archieves Management Warehouse in Brockport. Listed as stolen was X-ray film valued at $2,209.80. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Theft by deception – ID theft

JAY TWP. – At 11:48 a.m. on Jan. 24, PSP Ridgway investigat­ed an identity theft of unknown actors. The victim’s identity was stolen with a loss of approximat­ely $300.

Megan’s Law failure to comply

HORTON TWP. – At 11 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2022, PSP Ridgway received an investigat­ion request from the PSP Megan’s Law Section requesting an investigat­ion into a known offender. This investigat­ion continues.

Criminal mischief

JONES TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigat­ing damage caused to a parked vehicle in a driveway on Wilcox Road in Jones Township. The damage reportedly occurred between 1:30-5 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2022.

Theft from building

JAY TWP. – At 8:44 p.m. on Jan.12, PSP Ridgway received a report of money stolen from the Force Hotel in Jay Township. The amount stolen was reportedly $9,200. The arrestee was a 61-yearold Weedville woman. This case is currently under investigat­ion.

Criminal trespass

FOX TWP. – At 3:44 p.m. on Jan. 6, PSP Ridgway investigat­ed a trespassin­g incident at Walmart Store #1792 in Fox Township. The arrestee was listed as being a 35-year-old St. Marys man. This investigat­ion continues.

Crash

RIDGWAY TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigat­ing a crash at 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 17 on Ridgway St. Marys

Road, 430 feet west of Old State Road, in Ridgway Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara operated by Jeffrey A. Woodford, 51, of Ridgway, was traveling eastbound on SR 120. The Suzuki was negotiatin­g a slight right hand curve in the roadway when Woodford lost control of the vehicle due to icy roadways. The Suzuki then crossed over the double yellow line and through the westbound lane of travel. The Suzuki continued traveling north and struck the guide rail located along the westbound lane. Woodford was able to push the vehicle off the roadway and pull into a pull off along the eastbound lane of travel. Woodford and passenger Edward A. Switzer, 18, of Ridgway, were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured. The Suzuki was towed from the scene by Wally’s Towing.

DUI crash

RIDGWAY TWP. – At 9:24 p.m. on Jan. 8, PSP Ridgway responded to a one-vehicle crash on the Johnsonbur­g St. Marys Road in Ridgway Township. Upon investigat­ion, it was determined that the operator was under the influence of a controlled substance. This case is pending blood results.

DUI

HORTON TWP. – At 11:03 p.m. on Jan. 18, PSP Ridgway initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford on Route 153/ Route 219 in Horton Township for a violation of Title 75. The odor of cannabis was detected emanating from the vehicle and the operator, a 44-year-old Northern Cambria man, showed multiple signs of impairment during SFSTs. The operator of the vehicle was taken to Penn Highlands Elk for a legal blood draw. The operator was then taken to the Clearfield County Jail on warrants. Charges are pending blood results.
