Daghir announcement not to seek 2nd term as commissioner
I am announcing that I will NOT be seeking a 2nd term as a Republican candidate for the office of Elk County Commissioner. This position has been exciting, challenging and rewarding. We endured Covid and worked through the emergency declaration from President Biden and Governor Wolf that changed Elk County, Pennsylvania and the United States for future years to come. With fellow commissioners and dedicated staff, we worked diligently to implement policies and disburse millions of dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds while maintaining ongoing responsibilities required in county government. Foundations established by prior commissioners greatly assisted in maintaining daily functions of the commissioner’s office. The current board of commissioners, along with other elected officials and county departments has put Elk County in good shape. I feel blessed to have served in local government for the past 35 years in Elk County. I am very proud to have served Elk County as a probation officer and as an elected commissioner by the voters of Elk County. The people of Elk County are very resilient. I have learned that team work, trust, communication and daily prayer assists us in being successful.
Elk County’s greatest resource is our people. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with two outstanding elected officials, Fritz Lecker and Matthew Quesenberry. I appreciate the immeasurable guidance and support of Tom Wagner as he serves as Solicitor for Elk County. My wife, Roben, and sons, Luke, Fr. Ben and Nick, along with my siblings, in-laws, neighbors and friends have been my greatest treasure and I value their love and support. And to the people of Elk County, I thank you all for entrusting me with the responsibilities of the Office of County Commissioner, Chairman. God bless the residents of Elk County.
