POLICE REPORT
State police at Ridgway Crash
JAY TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 11 p.m. on Jan. 7 on Bennetts Valley Highway, 38 feet south of River Road, in Jay Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred when a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Jeannette R. Friday, 39, of Weedville, was traveling south on SR 255 and failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. The Chevrolet left the east side of the roadway, striking a fire hydrant and multiple road signs. Friday failed to stop and notify the damages to appropriate parties. No injuries were reported. Assisting on scene were Jay Township Water Authority members.
Crash
HIGHLAND TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 4:13 a.m. on Jan. 17 on SR 948, 834 feet east of Lucas Lane, in Highland Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as the vehicle, a Kenworth Northwest operated by Douglas J. Haupright, 56, of Johnsonburg was traveling. The roadway was untreated and developed black ice. The vehicle was traveling downhill and slid off the right shoulder and into the guiderail for approximately 150 feet. The vehicle then exited the right shoulder over the embankment and overturned onto its side.
Endangering welfare of child
RIDGWAY TWP. – At 8 a.m. on Jan. 4, PSP Ridgway troopers were dispatched to Cummings Drive in Ridgway Township for a Childline report that was received. After investigation, no crime was determined to have occurred.
Megan’s Law failure to comply
RIDGWAY TWP. – At 9:42 a.m. on Jan. 4, PSP's Megan's Law Unit received a tip in which an adult male failed to update his address and was out of compliance. PSP Ridgway was assigned the case and it is currently being investigated.
Crash
RIDGWAY TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating a crash at 6:26 a.m. on Montmorenci Road, 225 feet north of Oknefski Road, in Ridgway Township. According to PSP, this crash occurred as a 2019 Dodge Durango operated by Amanda R. Sidelinger, 33, of St. Marys was traveling northbound on SR 948 when a deer entered the roadway.
The Dodge attempted to avoid striking the deer, traveling into the opposite lane of travel. The Dodge struck a guiderail off the southbound lane that caused disabling front end damage. PSP Ridgway were assisted on scene by PennDOT, EMS, and D&T Towing.
Harassment
FOX TWP. – PSP Ridgway report investigating an incident of harassment between two family members at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 on Squad Hollow Road in Fox Township. The arrestee was listed as being a 39-year-old Kersey man. The victim was listed as being a 69-year-old Kersey woman. A summary charge of harassment is pending in District Court 59-3-03.
Theft retail/shoplifting
FOX TWP. – At 1:47 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2022, troopers from PSP Ridgway responded to Walmart in Fox Township for a reported retail theft. The suspect, Nicole Giovannelli, 25, of Ridgway, was identified and charged at MDJ 593-03. Listed as being stolen were clothing, knife set, and toys valued at $217.89; toys, home décor, clothing, and soda valued at $109.77; toys, candle wax, and soda valued at $41.05; home décor, clothes, and toys valued at $170.27; and candy and Vicks vaporizer valued at $21.54.
Harassing communication
FOX TWP. – PSP Ridgway was contacted at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2022, in regards to text messages and a letter being sent to the complainant. The investigation is ongoing.
Drug possession
HORTON TWP. – At 10:12 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2022, PSP Ridgway seized a vehicle as a result of a probation violation. Upon searching the vehicle, illegal narcotics and paraphernalia were found. The arrestee was listed as being a 30-year-old St. Marys man. The investigation continues.
DUI
RIDGWAY BORO – At 9:41 a.m. on Jan. 4, PSP Ridgway initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 Subaru Impreza traveling at a high rate of speed on Montmorenci Avenue/ Day Street in Ridgway Borough. Upon contacting the driver, Jacob Disshon, 20, of Sheffield, it was suspected Disshon was under the influence of drugs and he was arrested for DUI. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
